Girls Night Out=Great Ideas!

I am going to start by saying Girls Night is something NO girl should ever pass up.  Our great little team is so cute and we all love each other and all bring so many different, amazing things to the table that we really make a GREAT team.  I am so proud of the friends we have in each other! SO girls night for our team last month was a painting night and we all decided on painting these PRECIOUS little trolls.  We all picked a hair color that tickled our fancy and added a streak ~ cause we are so funky~ of another teammates hair color to represent we all work together.  Then we went all out and added make-up and fun touches.

We had so much fun together and decided we were going to use our troll like we did our Elf and have her doing different things each day and the kids can write about it.  So we HAD to create a Trolls writing packet because it was just TOO MUCH FUN but we needed some graphics! Our first thought was Nikki at Melonheadz. Have you checked her out?? She is awesome! She was happy to create trolls for us and TaDa...we have our own custom made set of trolls graphics. So here are 3 more writing packets to cover your writing time and make your kids feel like they are King (or Queen) of the world! These writing prompts are so fun, the kids can go in so many directions with them, and it will make your planning time for writing a breeze!  We have found there is nothing more valuable than something that makes your kids WANT to write-  our writing pages do this for our students.

We are so in love with this time of year with our kids.  For any of you CrAzY teachers that do chicks with your kids we have 2 things to say to you:

If you have not taught with our chicks packet, you MUST!  It is a CrAzY fun packet that has your kids learning the life cycle, daily egg writing journal and daily chick writing journal, EGGcellent math and literacy activities that will have them peeping along with a hard boiled egg, and even the most fun activity where they take care of their own egg at their desk with everything you need to make this unit a CrAzY fun success!!

Calling All Teacher CHICKS!

Do you guys do chick eggs in your classroom in the spring?  If you haven't- you MUST!  It's so super fun! Not to mention that your kids will think you are the coolest, CrAzIeSt most awesome teacher in the whole universe.   We borrowed incubators in the past and this year loaded up a Donors Choose project for both of us to have our very own, shiny, won't cook your eggs incubators and guess what?!  They just came in!!  We are so CrAzY excited we can't see straight- really. If you ever do eggs with your class you will understand why!!

Meet Mrs. Chick--- she is one of the 5 that we had in Kindergarten last year that now lives with us!  Isn't she purdy?!

All this Chick talk reminds us that our Farm Unit it right around the corner so check out the Farm Fresh activities your kids will be mooooooing over.  I don't want to hear a PEEP CHICKS!

Spring is in the Air

It is almost Spring! Yippee! Even though in Texas we don't have much of a winter, we still look forward to it officially being Spring.

 Do you struggle with fitting everything into your day? We do! Have you seen our monthly Literacy and Calendar Journals? These journals are a great way to review on a daily basis. We use the literacy journals in the morning for "bell work". The kids know as soon as they come in and unpack, they get our their journal and get to work. After announcements, we check it! The calendar journal gives us the same opportunity to review math skills on a daily basis.  We really do love these so much! We hope you will too! Eventually we will have one for each month.
